In order for any changes to be made for the Deceased, the following needs to be obtained :
- The Deceased must have had a will with an appointed executor. The executor is the said person who will see to the administration of an estate once someone has passed away and is usually appointed at the time of drawing up the will. If there is no executor, an attorney or the court must be engaged so as to appoint an executor after which and executor letter will be issued.
- Once you have obtained the executor letter, you will also need a copy of the executors identification and their proof of address. The executor must issue a letter confirming that the deceased’s vehicle can be transferred to you.
- You will need to be in possesion of the vehicle’s ORIGINAL registration certificate …Ok wait, registration WHAT? Some of us dont know what that is? That is the vehicles ”log book” or ”identification” which is given with every vehicle purchased and also confirms who the car belongs to.
- A copy of the deceased’s identification, the deceased’s death certifcate, the executor letter together with their identification & proof of address.
- If you are the new owner to be, you will need your identification and proof of address.
Let us know how many of you have experienced difficulties in transferring vehicles onto your name and we will glady assist you!
